Doula is an ancient Greek word meaning“woman who serves”. In modern language, it is used to define someone who assists a mother and her partner in the birthing process by providing non-medical emotional and physical support before, during and after childbirth.

The term “Acupuncture Doula” was coined by Deborah Warsahuer to describe precisely the services that she provides.

As an acupuncture doula, Deborah uses her skills and experience as a practitioner of Chinese medicine and birth worker to assist couples in all aspects of reproduction and includes fertility, pregnancy, birthing preparation, labor and delivery and post-partum. This is achieved through all modalities of the acupuncturist and may include traditional doula services as well.
